PARALYMPICS IN DESIGN, Infographic information.
Although I won't be producing an info-graphic response, the research contained in these designs provides alot of background statistics and information I couldn't really of found easily for e.g. '5 million litres of bottled water will be supplied in the Olympic village supplied by the official water sponsor, Schweppes Abbey Well.'
I knew a good friend that was going to the Olympic stadium to watch some of the track events, including the hammer throw, hurdles and sprints. Because I knew so far in advance that he was attending, I asked him to take some photographs for me...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought it would be a good idea to try and gather some research from someone actually involved with people with disabilities to train and gain a perspective on how their lives have been effected.
As you can see from the bottom of the website they're supporting the 2012 London Paralympic Games and supply a substantial amount of research into Spinal chord injury, The overall attitude of the website seems very focused on positive thinking and independence.
Symptoms of Parapelegia: Injury to the spinal cord at the thoracic level and below result in paraplegia, with the arms and hands not affected. People with injuries to the spinal cord segments T-1 to T-8 usually retain control of the arms and hands but have poor trunk control and balance due to the lack of abdominal muscle control. Lower thoracic injuries (T-9 to T-12) retain good truck control and good abdominal muscle control. The sitting balance of people with lower spinal cord injuries is usually very good. Lumbar and Sacral injuries result in decreased control of the hip flexors and legs.

Influence; The colour scheme works well in the sense that it isn't too overpowering, probably important when your dealing with figures and info-graphic designs, the information itself is enough to process without the need for garish colours.
I'll certainly be including the Nations flags in my publication, I was going to produce a layout that consisted of all the past Paralympic host cities and the design below displays; 'China's' 'USA's' & 'GB's' flags. --------------------- The designs work well without any form of an outline, which is the approach I'll be adopting when it comes to developing my flags digitally.
------------------------------------------------------
If I was going to understand the history, I couldn't just look at the paralympics, I had to see how the disabilities effected peoples lives and how far the technology's developed from its first creations. Below you can see one of the first ever prosthetic legs at the 'National Museum of Civil War Medicine'. From this picture you can see that the raw materials would've been very uncomfortable.
INSPIRATION
MORE THAN, Pet Insurance, 2012 advert. I really liked the idea of keeping a running theme throughout my timeline, Just like the one featured below.
Seeing the advert above made me think about what inspirational material I had on page Borders...I came across this set of pen drawings. Although they were significantly deeper than the ones above...they still shared the same ability to keep the inside information neat and centred, which was what I really wanted for my information...the Paralympics had such a rich history, I wanted it to be focused, as oppose to a lot of information everywhere.
If I was going to make a border for the Paralympics, I had to make sure all the drawings were related to some aspect of its history. With this in mind I've explained key decisions in my 'Development' booklet.
